Gingrich to be Featured at Gwinnett Public Forum November 2

The 7th District Committee of the Georgia Republican Party will begin hosting public Presidential forums which will kick-off next Wednesday, November 2nd with Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich from 6-7 PM at the Gwinnett Place Marriott in Duluth.

"We are preparing for the most important election of our lifetime. America is at a crossroads. We must decide whether we remain a free, capitalist nation or embark on the disastrous journey that is being offered by the left", said 7th District GOP Chairman Jason Thompson. He continued "We have an important decision to make and we wanted to provide a format that would give the voters in Georgia an up-close and personal opportunity to meet and hear candidates in person, instead of just on television. We have invited all Republican primary Presidential candidates to come and speak at an open town-hall format that will feature one candidate per event. We are honored that former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich will be featured on November 2nd in the first of what we hope to be many public forums."

A college professor, historian, and author, Gingrich won his first seat in the House in the election of November 1978. He was re-elected ten times, and his activism as a member of the House's Republican minority eventually enabled him to succeed Dick Cheney as House Minority Whip in 1989.

As a co-author of the 1994 Contract with American, Gingrich was in the forefront of the Republican Party's dramatic success in that year's Congressional elections and subsequently was elected Speaker of the House. In 1995, Time magazine named him "Man of the Year" for his role in leading the Republican Revolution in the House, ending 40 years of the Democratic Party being in the majority.

Since Leaving Washington, Gingrich has written a host of best selling books, been a regular political commentator and an analyst on television news. He is the founder and/or chair of several organizations and companies, American Solutions for Winning the Future, Center for Health Transformation, Gingrich Productions and Renewing American Leadership. In May 2011 he announced he would run for President.
