First Friday Concert Series Features Swingin` Medallions

September 3rd will be downtown Monroe's second to last First Friday Concert for 2010. The highly anticipated Swingin' Medallions will take the stage at 7 p.m. on the Walton Country historic courthouse lawn with opening band The Dick Smtih band playing country and Southern Rock favorites at 5:30 p.m. Downtown Monroe hosts this summer concert series, presented by Walton Regional Medical Center, where admission is free and all ages are welcome.
The Swingin' Medallions is an eight piece band based out of Greenwood, South Carolina. Their music is most often linked with beach music, R&B, and "Carolina Shagging" music. Known as the "Party Band of the South" they have produced hits such as "Double Shot (Of My Baby's Love)", "Hey, Hey, Baby" and "She Drives Me Out Of My Mind". The band was formed in the early 1960's and have been bringing the high energy party style stage performance ever since.
Downtown Monroe is home to a variety of great restaurants that will be available for dining before the concert begins, including Butcher Block Deli and Grill, Jovaltos Jamaican and American Grill, Monroe Recreation Parlor, The Sweet Shoppe and Soda Stop, or Zoe Café & Bakery. The option of picking up a boxed dinner to-go is also available in order to enjoy your picnic dinner on the lawn at the concert.
Tables are available for reserved seating at each concert. Each table allows up to eight guests and only costs $100 per table. In order to reserve your table for Swingin' Medallions please call 770-266-5331. Blankets and chairs are also encouraged in order to enjoy the show comfortably. Plenty of parking is available in many public parking lots surrounding the historic courthouse making it a short and easy walk to the concert location.
