Mock Critical of Marin in House 96 Race
Written by Brian Mock
A bridge builder. A consensus maker. This is how those who know Brian Mock, the Democratic challenger to Rep. Pedro Marin inGwinnett's 96th House District, describe him. Based upon the broad level of support that Mock has received, this description seems accurate. From Gwinnett's Republican Sheriff Butch Conway to Democratic former State Senator and current DeKalb School Board member Eugene Walker, those who know Mock strongly endorse his candidacy.
"A vote for Brian Mock is the best investment a voter can make in his or her community," states Walker . And Conway states, "Brian will work with us for cleaner and safer neighborhoods."
Mock has been critical of Marin, a four-term incumbent.
"He has forgotten about those who voted him into office," Mock said. "Pedrocares about one thing only — being the leader of the Hispanic community. Look at his website, his press releases. They're 90% about what he is doing or trying to do for the Hispanic community. What about the rest of us, the majority of the voters in Gwinnett?" Mock asked.
Marin recently returned from Washington where he met with President Obama on the status of Puerto Rico.
"The voters of our district couldn't care less if Puerto Rico becomes a state or not. What we care about is why our neighbor can't find a job and why our community is in steep decline."
Mock states he will work hard for the citizens of Gwinnett and, unlike his opponent, he will stay home in the district and focus on the issues challenging our community. A vote for Mock is a vote for someone who really cares about the day-to-day concerns of the citizen voters of District 96.
The race between Mock and Marin will be decided on July 20th. There is no further opposition in November.
