Liberal Special Interests Fund Johnson Race Against Shepherd

Republican State House candidate Jason Shepherd had another successful fundraising period, despite the slow economy, raising a total of $27,193.69 since entering the race from more than 244 contributions.

"We are getting a lot of small contributions from grassroots supporters," said Shepherd. "Many are people who have been hit especially hard by this economy, but are encouraged by having someone in the State House who will work hard for them and not the special interests"

Democrat incumbent Terry Johnson also filed his disclosure with more than half of his 34 itemized contributions coming from corporations that do business with the State of Georgia, special interest political action committees, current and former Democrat elected officials and labor unions.

"Although he constantly refers to himself as a conservative," said Shepherd. "Terry Johnson's campaign disclosures tell a different story. Considering where his support is coming from, it makes one wonder who he is really representing down at the Gold Dome."

Johnson received campaign contributions from organizations like the Brotherhood of Local Engineering and Trainmen PAC, GA AFL-CIO, GA State Council of Machinists, and the UFCW (United Food and Commercial Workers) 1996 Active Ballot Club.
