Sugar Hill LDS Choir to Present Seventh Annual Free Community Christmas Concert Dec. 10 & 11
Written by Sugar Hill LDS
The Sugar Hill LDS Choir's seventh annual free, community Christmas concert will be held Dec. 10 and 11 at 7 p.m. and is themed "Keep the Light of Christmas."
The concert will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' Church located at 4833 Suwanee Dam Road, near North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, Ga. No ticket is needed for the free concert.
Drawing attendees from all over metro Atlanta who have made the concert part of their holiday traditions, this year's performance will feature a variety of music including traditional Christmas songs and some new ones that are guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser.
"One of the purposes of our concerts is to give families a chance to experience live music in person at the affordable price of free," said Suwanee resident Kimberly Lowry, one of the directors of the choir this season along with Shelly Birch also of Suwanee and Joe Pridgen of Sugar Hill. "We're excited to continue this musical tradition each year for our communities."
The choir was recently extended an invitation to sing at the 2012 National Day Memorial Choral Festival being held at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Nominated by local media as one of best church choirs in Gwinnett, the Choir draws its members from Dawson, Hall, Gwinnett and Forsyth Counties. Several accomplished musicians and community leaders participate in the choir with cities being represented including Buford, Cumming, Dahlonega, Dawsonville, Flowery Branch, Gainesville, Hamilton Mill, Lawrenceville, Oakwood, Sugar Hill and Suwanee. The all-volunteer choir always performs for free and is accompanied by Eric Kristjanson of Lawrenceville and Michelle Whetten of Suwanee.
The Choir has participated in key holiday events around the region including most recently the Veteran's Day Celebration held Nov. 7 at the Suwanee Town Center. Other events include Atlanta's Festival of Trees, Lighting of Gainesville, Gainesville's award-winning Multi-Cultural Concert, City of Lilburn's Veteran's Day Event, City of Norcross' July Patriotic Celebration, City of Suwanee's Memorial Day Weekend Concert, and City of Sugar Hill's Fall Festival and Lighting of the Christmas Tree. They also present an annual patriotic spring concert with the nearly 60-piece Gwinnett Community Band which will be held April 27 & 28, 2012.
