Stone Mountain Barbershoppers Revisit “Route 66”
Written by Stone Mountain Chorus
Veterans Day week is the perfect time to honor those who have served in our nation's armed forces. It is also the time for the annual Stone Mountain Chorus Fall Show program, which treats our audience to the best in four-part harmony to the metropolitan Atlanta area. This year's program features musical selections that bring back memories of "Route 66", the famous highway from Chicago to Los Angeles. The festivities will take place at the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center (www.gwinnettcenter.com), 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth at 8:30 PM on Friday, November 11, and at 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM on Saturday, November 12.
The 60-man Stone Mountain Chorus (www.stonemountainchorus.org) and its chapter quartets will treat the audience to a wide variety of close, four-part harmony singing. This uniquely American musical art form delighted audiences for three performances in 2010. Our featured guest quartet is the Old School, 2011 International Quartet Champions. Old School (www.oldschoolqt.com) is one of the most popular and talented quartets in the barbershop harmony world and their appearance is definitely a plus for the Atlanta area audience.
