Gwinnett Ballet Theatre to Perform `The Nutcracker` December 4-19
Written by Gwinnett Ballet Theatre
Gwinnett Ballet Theatre will present its 29th annual production of The Nutcracker in eleven public performances beginning Saturday, December 4 and continuing through Sunday, December 19, 2010. All performances are held in the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center located at Gwinnett Center, Duluth, GA.
This favorite family holiday event is a traditional telling of the story of a little girl, an enchanted Nutcracker, a battle with the Mouse King and his minions, and a fabulous trip through the Land of Sweets. GBT utilizes the talents of over 130 dancers. Sumptuous sets and costumes are a part of the production. Another very special feature of GBT's Nutcracker for many years has been the appearance of Magician Bill Kress as Herr Drosselmeyer. Mr. Kress delights the audience with his feats of magic which includes his use of doves, rabbits, and his pet cockatoo, Bugsy.
The Gwinnett Ballet Theatre Orchestra will again accompany the dancers for the last eight performances. Conducted by Predrag Gosta, this live, professional orchestra consists of 33 of the finest musicians in the Southeast.
