Search Volume Infographic
Written by Authority Cafe
Ever wonder how many Internet searches are done for some of your favorite brands, teams, or foods? How about how many searches are done for different makes of cars? Authority Cafe, a Lawrenceville-based marketing company, did some keyword research and created an infographic to show some of these types of results.
The infographic shows some of the highest volume search terms in a pictograph which shows that the term "Facebook" gets about five times as many searches as the next highest term shown, which is "Yahoo". While there is no definitive answer as to why there are so many searches for the term Facebook in the Google data set, Keith Hogsed, owner of Authority Cafe, theorises that many people have Google set as their browser home page and that when they are ready to check in on Facebook instead of typing "Facebook.com" into the URL field in the browser they just type "Facebook" into the Google search box.
In addition to the high volume search terms shown in the pictograph, the infographic also shows a variety of data tables that show the number of searches in a variety of topical categories such as insurance, sports, TV shows, cities and news. For instance, the data reported shows that there were about twice as many searches in 2011 for the term "CNN" compared to the term "Fox News".
The infographic is based on data collected from Google data sets in January 2012 and is based on search volume averages from the previous 12 months, which in this case was from January 2011 to December 2011.
