Propeller Investments, an aerospace and transportation private equity firm, today announced the appointment of Ross Fischer to its Board of Advisors.
"We are privileged that Ross has agreed to join our Board as his leadership and operational experience will certainly be a valuable asset as we continue to grow Propeller through our pursuit of unique investment opportunities. There are only a few individuals in aviation that have been able to start, build and operate a consistently reliable and profitable airline: Ross is one of them", said Brett Smith, Propeller's Managing Director.
Mr. Fischer is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Miami Air International, a charter airline based in Miami, Florida. Co-Founded in 1990 by Ross, Miami Air operates a fleet of nine Boeing 737 aircraft worldwide, providing charter flights for a wide variety of customers including the United States Military, professional sports teams, Fortune 500 companies, entertainers, and major cruise lines.
Ross is a forty-two year aviation veteran who began his career as a US Navy pilot flying A-7 Corsairs off the USS Aircraft Carrier John F. Kennedy. Ross spent 9 years flying for the navy and an additional 15 years in the US Navy Reserves. He was Commanding Officer of VA 204 and retired as a Captain. Ross returned to civilian life taking a job flying for Continental Airlines. Following Continental Ross took a position with People Express, the pioneering low cost airline, where he was tapped for his management abilities as Managing Officer of System Operations. Prior to starting Miami Air, Ross was at Eastern Airlines where he served as its Vice President of Systems Operations.
Ross serves on the Board of Directors of the National Air Carriers Association and served as its past Chairman. He is also on the Board of The Sunshine Foundation, a children's charity. Type rated in numerous aircraft including the Boeing 737, Ross is an accomplished aviator with over 6,500 hours of flying under his belt. A graduate of the University of Delaware, Ross and his wife Penny reside in Miami, Florida.
"Propeller looks forward to Ross's participation and his balanced perspective and solid understanding of business fundamentals as we navigate the current business environment," said Smith.
